Donna Summer gilt als die „unbestrittene Disco-Queen“.

Donna Summer (* 31. Dezember 1948 in Boston, Massachusetts; † 17. Mai 2012 in Naples, Florida; eigentlich LaDonna Adrian Gaines) war eine US-amerikanische Sängerin und Songschreiberin, die von 1968 bis 1976 in Deutschland und Österreich lebte und arbeitete.

Summer gilt als die „unbestrittene Disco-Queen“. Gemeinsam mit den Produzenten Giorgio Moroder und Pete Bellotte entwickelte sie ab Mitte der 1970er Jahre von München aus die moderne Tanzmusik weiter zu einer neuen Idee von internationalem Pop.

Mit Songs wie Love to Love You Baby, I Feel Love, Hot Stuff oder On the Radio wurde sie in der zweiten Hälfte der 1970er Jahre zum internationalen Star. Sie eroberte die Hitparaden weltweit und verkaufte geschätzte 130 Millionen Schallplatten. Sie war 1977 und 1979 die erfolgreichste Musikerin in Deutschland und 1979 und 1980 die erfolgreichste Musikerin der USA. Ihr Song I Feel Love ist der weltweit erfolgreichste Song der 1970er Jahre aus Deutschland. Sie gewann von 1978 bis 1997 fünf Grammys in vier verschiedenen Musikrichtungen (R’n’B, Rock, Gospel, Dance-Pop) und ihr Song Last Dance 1978 einen Oscar. 1992 erhielt sie einen Stern auf dem Hollywood Walk of Fame. 2011 wurde Donna Summer mit ihrem Song I Feel Love für das Nationale Schallplattenverzeichnis der US-Kongressbibliothek (National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress) ausgewählt; sie gehört damit zum Klangerbe der USA, das für zukünftige Generationen bewahrt werden soll. 2013 wurde sie in die Rock and Roll Hall of Fame aufgenommen. 2018 wurde ein Remix ihres Songs Hot Stuff ihr 18. Nummer-1-Hit in den US-amerikanischen Club-Charts.

My father owned an air rifle with lead bullets. However, a regular air rifle was not enough for him, and he mounted an additional spiral spring. The firing power was increased as a result, but the manipulated rifle did not come close to real, live weapons. Fortunately, this was the case, because otherwise much worse would have happened to my sister a short time later.
There was no suitable way to hide or lock the rifle in the house. Dad had hidden the ammunition well, but nothing was safe from us four children. Our eldest brother found the rifle quickly and constantly ran around with it when our parents were not at home.
I was upstairs in our house when I heard the screams. As is so often the case, Ute and Lutz argued.
And this despite the fact that they were fraternal twins. Siblings can’t be closer. Why did the two of them have constant trouble with each other? That was completely unclear to me.
“Like dogs and cats,” our Mother often said.
So again, quarrels and shouting. Now I became curious, because Ute screamed louder and more hysterically. When I entered the living room, I saw that Lutz was aiming at our sister, who, despite her hysteria, was holding the receiver of our gray phone on the other side of the room.
I yelled in fright, “Lutz, don’t do that!” Without thinking, I slammed the rifle up with the flat of my hand. We heard the “plop” of the rifle. My older brother had accidentally pulled the trigger. …

Mein Vater besaß ein Luftdruckgewehr. Ein sogenanntes Knicklaufgewehr mit Bleigeschossen. Ihm genügte aber ein normales Luftdruckgewehr nicht und er montierte eine zusätzliche Spiraldruckfeder. Die Schuss- beziehungsweise Durchschlagskraft wurde dadurch zwar erhöht, das frisierte Gewehr kam aber bei weitem nicht an echten, scharfen Waffen heran. Glücklicherweise war das so, denn sonst wäre sicherlich meiner Schwester noch viel Schlimmeres passiert. Es gab keine geeignete Möglichkeit, das Gewehr im Haus zu verstecken oder zu verschließen. Die Munition hatte Vater zwar gut versteckt, aber vor uns vier Kindern war wirklich nichts sicher. Unser ältester Bruder fand es schnell, und lief ständig mit dem Ding herum, wenn Vater und Mutter wieder einmal nicht zu Hause waren. Ich befand mich gerade im oberen Stockwerk in unserem Einfamilienhaus, da hörte ich das Geschrei. Wie so oft zankten sich Ute und Lutz. Und das, obwohl sie zweieiige Zwillinge waren. Enger können doch Geschwister nicht sein, dachte ich. Warum sich die beiden ständig fetzten? Das war mir völlig unklar.
»Wie Hund und Katze«, sagte Mutter immer.
Also wieder einmal Zank, Streit und Gezeter. Jetzt wurde ich neugierig, da Ute immer lauter und hysterischer schrie. Als ich ins Wohnzimmer kam,
sah ich, dass Lutz auf unsere Schwester zielte, die auf der anderen Seite des Zimmers trotz ihrer Hysterie den Hörer unseres grauen Telefonapparates in der Hand hielt.

Im Andenken an meine viel zu früh verstorbene Schwester würde ich mir eine kleine Rose über dem Knöchel tätowieren lassen. Sie hatte eine Rose, ähnliche wie auf dem Bild.

In memory of my sister, who died much too early, I would have a small rose above the ankle. She had a rose similar to the one in the picture.
